verico SCE performed a validation of a project plan (based on the CDM-PDD format) for the project “Energy savings through a reed bed wastewater treatment plant in Oman” to confirm the conformity of the project design with the requirements of ISO 14064 Part 2 and the UERV. After validation, this was the very first UERV project to be registered by the German Emissions Trading Authority (DEHSt).
The project will reduce the energy consumption (power consumption) of pumps used for the deep well disposal program of the Nimr oil field in Oman. Instead of using energy to dispose of water in deep geological strata, a unique reed bed treatment plant treats the oil in an energy efficient manner and may even allow the use of treated water for other beneficial uses (not part of the UER project). Project design, construction and operation will be provided by Bauer Resources GmbH and Bauer-Nimr LLC.
