Director of “SSDC” LLP, a certified lead auditor of the company with more than 9 years of experience in the field of greenhouse gas emissions monitoring, expert on climate change and emissions trading in Kazakhstan. During her tenure at SSDC, she has successfully completed more than 70 verification and validation projects as the verification group leader in the following sectors: Energy, Oil and Gas, Chemical, Mining, Manufacturing related to the production of construction materials. She also conducted analytical work for the UNDP Project on the Development of the National Communication of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the UNFCCC and the Biennial Report, and developed a monitoring protocol (MRV) for the results of energy saving projects for the UNDP GEF Project – Sustainable Cities for Low Carbon Development.
Aida also served as an expert on the World Bank’s PMR project “Kazakhstan’s Fourth National Allocation Plan (NAP) for its Post-2020 National Emissions Trading System (ETS) under the Paris Agreement.” Before founding SSDC, she worked at JSC “Zhasyl Damu”, the state institute responsible for the development of ETS in Kazakhstan, as an expert on Kazakh ETS. While working there, she was involved in developing and coordinating the national allocation plan for the first period of Kazakhstan’s emissions trading system, developing legal acts and documents for the allocation of greenhouse gas allowances, analyzing greenhouse gas reports, monitoring plans of regulated companies, and providing explanations on issues related to the emissions trading system for regulated companies.
Aida holds a first-class bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Sheffield. She has completed several trainings on MRV of GHGs, including the JICA training “Capacity Building for Policy staff regarding Kyoto mechanisms” and in 2017 the ICAP training “Emission Trading for Emerging Economies and Developing Countries”, as well as other trainings on ISO 14065 and ISO 14064.
