Sven Starckx is one of the founding members of verico SCE.
Since 2003, Sven has been actively involved in the review of the European Commission Working Group(s) to ensure a coherent approach to the review of annual emissions reports under the EU ETS.
The most recent contribution is the provision of key expertise in the development of guidance documents and tools to support the implementation of the Accreditation and Verification Ordinance and technical workshops on verification. In addition to the European ETS, Sven has been involved in the development of CDM projects and the provision of emission reduction credits from projects (LFG, hydro, geothermal, mine gas) with a focus on China and Southeast Asia. Sven has been involved in the review of various product benchmarks (Steam Crackers, Nitric Acid, Ammonia, Soda Ash, Phenol, Styrene, …) applied as part of the allocation of free allowances in Phase 3 of the EU ETS. He is currently supporting the preparation of Phase IV of the EU ETS, in particular assisting the Commission in the evaluation of Phase IV applications (starting in the fourth quarter of 2019) and, as a member of the consortium, supporting the EU Compliance Forum and providing MRVA expertise to the Commission. Recently, he has conducted MRVA training for auditors as part of EU assistance to implement emissions trading systems in China and in South Korea. Since 2005, he has been a lead auditor for annual emissions audits mainly in the petrochemical industry, F-Gas Regulation audits and ISO 50001 certifications. Sven has a degree in (bio) chemical engineering, environmental studies and an executive MBA.
